Evidence-checked snail mucin guides, in plain English

Editorial Policy

Our goal is simple: give people accurate, useful, honest information about snail mucin. This page explains how we do that.

How we research

  • Primary sources first. For any health or science claim, we go to the original study on PubMed or the journal’s website, not a summary of a summary.
  • We label the evidence. We tell readers whether a finding comes from a controlled human trial, an uncontrolled study, an animal study or lab work on cells, because those mean very different things.
  • We note conflicts of interest, for example when a study was funded or run by the company that sells the ingredient.
  • Reputable secondary sources. We link to medical organisations such as the American Academy of Dermatology and respected health publishers where helpful.

How we write

  • Plain English for a general audience, with links to the science for anyone who wants to dig deeper.
  • No exaggerated claims. If something “may help”, we will not say it “works”.
  • Not medical advice. We encourage readers to consult a dermatologist about skin conditions, allergies, pregnancy and prescription treatments.

How we choose products

We recommend products based on their ingredient lists, the available research, dermatologist reviews and long-term reputation. Unless a guide explicitly says so, we have not lab-tested products ourselves, and we never claim to have tested something we haven’t. Brands cannot pay to be included or to get a better position.

Images and videos

We only use images we have the right to use, such as Creative Commons or public-domain images, and we credit the creator and licence under every image. A full list is on our image credits page. Videos are embedded using the platform’s official embed player and are credited to their creators. They load only when you press play.

Keeping content fresh

Every guide shows a published date and a last-updated date, and includes a public update history. We only change the “updated” date for substantive changes, such as new research, corrected facts, new sections or changed product recommendations, not for typo fixes.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and record the correction in the guide’s update history. To report an error, email support@snailmucinspray.com.
